Review: MAC Lipstick in Sunny Seoul

MAC Lipstick in 'Sunny Seoul' - £14.00

I know, another MAC review #addicted. This lipstick is a relatively new purchase which I picked up as I think it's such a gorgeous colour for summer.

It's a Cremesheen finish which is by far my favourite and I think it was part of MAC's Pearl & Cremesheen collection. Described my MAC as a 'frosted light warm pink' it's not overly pigmented, but gives a nice sheer wash of colour, perfect for the warmer months.

I'm having a bit of a coral overload lately so opted for this pink as I don't actually have many muted pinks in my collection, especially not with this finish.

Even if you haven't tried a MAC lipstick before, I'm sure you'll know of their reputation which they really do live up to. Cremesheen is one of the most popular finishes MAC do and is so moisturising. Obviously, it's not going to last as long as a matte lipstick, but they're not drying at all and are easy to apply on the go as you don't need to be too precise. The only downside is that sometimes, as Cremesheen lipsticks are so creamy, they can melt a bit if you have it in your handbag on a hot day.

If you're looking for a subtle, pretty colour for summer then definitely take a look at Sunny Seoul next time you're in MAC.

The Stars Are The Only Things We Share

Jumper - Topshop
Dungarees - Beyond Retro

Song

I think I mentioned in my last post how much I wanted a pair of dungarees and now, tah dah, I have some! I just hadn't found a pair yet that I've really fallen in love with although I've wanted some for months now so when I saw these I had to get them.

I bought them on Sunday from Beyond Retro in Brick Lane on a little shopping trip with some friends. It was actually a birthday day out for Pip, whose birthday it was last Tuesday. We had such an amazing day and we met Gem Fatale! She was uber lovely and I still can't believe it happened as it was so random and such a shock, but we fangirled for a bit and got a picture with her! I'll probably be doing a post on the whole day with some outfit photos soon so look out for that.

I spent this evening helping out with a Year 7 Parents Evening at my school which was surprisingly fun. I completely forgot I'd even volunteered to help out until this morning when I got to school so it was a bit unexpected, though it was good. We basically just had to make tea and coffee for the teachers and sell drinks and biscuits to parents so it wasn't that hard, but we got paid in pizza, biscuits and cupcakes (best icing ever, just saying).

Soz for so little posting lately, but I'll be better, promise.

Hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend,

Review: MAC Paint Pot in 'Indianwood'

MAC Paint Pot - £14.50

I'm having a total minimal eye moment at the moment so cream eyeshadows are perfect for me. I just can't be arsed to go for a full-on eye look when it's so much easier to put on a bit of a liner and a bright lipstick, but cream eyeshadows are great for when you want to look like you've made an effort and really have made barely any effort at all.

I've been lusting after MAC's Indianwood for so long now - it's such a gorgeous colour and I'm a sucker for any shimmery gold shade. I'm pretty sure most of my makeup collection consists of colours so similar to this, but you can never have too much makeup, right?

I received Painterly paint pot for Christmas and have been using it on a near daily basis since so I'm pretty sure MAC's paint pots are a new staple in my makeup bag. They're not ridiculously expensive at £14.50, but are more of a treat for me than something I'd splurge on regularly.

For something a bit cheaper, I've also been so impressed by the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, but they have quite a limited colour range. I own a Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze which I swatched next to Indianwood and it's slightly darker and far less warm-toned. In comparison, On and On Bronze has lighter, almost silver undertones whereas Indianwood is definitely more gold and coppery. Maybelline also do a shade which I think is called 25K Gold which frankly terrifies me. I don't think I can pull of a shade quite so yellow, but Indianwood is perfect as a middle ground between On and On Bronze and 25K Gold.

MAC Paint Pots are wonderfully creamy and pigmented and while they do crease as most cream eyeshadows tend to do, it's not dreadful. To prevent this I sometimes apply a similar shade like MAC's Woodwinked on Urban Decay's Half Baked on top to prevent any creasing if I want a look that's going to last a bit longer.

What's your favourite cream eyeshadow?

Buried Deep Within There's A Human

Hat - Portobello Market
Garland - Spitalfields Market
Blouse - Warehouse
Pinafore - River Island
Creepers - Office

Song

I've been wanting a pair of dungarees/pinafore for so long now, but all the dungarees I've tried on haven't suited me so far so I really had my eyes set on a pinafore. Topshop have been selling some for around £40 which is a bit expensive so I was so happy to see this beauty in River Island for only £20. The Topshop ones are made of a stronger denim I think whereas this pinafore is more of a stretchy fabric, but for £20 less it's not a big deal.

It's so versatile and perfect for summer and I can definitely imagine wearing it with crop tops and whatnot, but it was a bit chillier that day so I paired it with my Warehouse blouse. When I first got this blouse I didn't wear it for ages, but now I adore it. The lace detail is just so gorgeous.

Sorry for the weird shadows in some of the pictures, but I thought it'd be nice to take my outfit photos in my old place seeing as the weather's a bit nicer now. The photos were taken and edited by the lovely Alice from Illustration Narration. It's so much nicer to get my photos taken by an actual human being rather than a tripod when I can.

Last week and this week have been super stressful so I haven't had much time for blogging, but I have a couple of beauty reviews lined up which I'll hopefully be posting soon. I'm doing my D of E expedition this weekend so I won't have much time to post then though. For any of you that don't know, D of E is the Duke of Edinburgh award which you can do at school in the UK and part of it is to go on a huge long walk over the weekend and camp out. You pretty much have to find your own way from A to B with your little group and navigate down little country lanes so fingers crossed I don't get lost. It should be fun though and I'll try to be a little better with blogging next week.

Review: Models Own 'Scented Polishes'

I knew the second I heard about these polishes that I had to have them in my life. I don't have that many pastels in my wardrobe (except for mint, I adore mint) so I love wearing them on my nails.

So the big thing with these polishes is that they're meant to actually smell like fruits and since the chemical nail polish smell is so strong in the first place, I was a bit sceptical so I had to try them out

I picked up three of the five polishes available: Blueberry Muffin, Apple Pie and Banana Split, using the 3 for 2 offer that was on in Boots at the time. They cost £5 each so I got all three for a tenner rather than £15. All five polishes available are sold as a set on the Models Own website for £20 which is £5 less than what you'd pay if you bought them individually without any offer.

I'm sure that most of you in the UK (as far as I know, you can't get Models Own in other countries) will have tried Models Own polishes, so I won't go into too much detail on the quality of the product. They're relatively easy to apply and do chip pretty quickly so they're not the best quality, but overall they're good nail polishes and aren't ridiculously expensive.

So onto the scent. First of all, all of the scents are pretty artificial which isn't everybody's cup of tea. Seeing as you can 'scratch n sniff' the bottles before buying, you can already smell the polish before you get it so you're not going to be buying something you can't stand the smell of.

If you sniff the polish straight out of the bottle it doesn't smell like anything other than normal polish (and will probably give you a headache) and even when you apply it, it doesn't really smell like anything special, but by the time it's at least touch-dry, you can smell the fruity scent. Models Own say themselves on their website that 'once dry they emit a subtle, but pretty perfume that matches their name' so anyone expecting the actual polish to smell like fruit is going to be disappointed. Obviously, the smell of nail polish is pretty strong so it doesn't disappear completely when dry, but the strongest smell is the fruit scent

I did find that I could still smell the scent even after applying top coat, but after a day or so the smell has faded by quite a bit. I think as most of us use hand wash, hand cream, etc. on a daily basis, the smell isn't going to stick around for long as it's bound to fade so I'm not particularly surprised.

To be honest, the scented polish thing is a bit of a gimmick. I mean how often do we go around smelling our finger nails? It's a bit weird and the main point of a nail polish is to look pretty which these polishes do.

If you only want the polishes for the unique 'scented' aspect and already have similar colour polishes, I'd say don't bother, but if, like me, you'd buy the polishes for their gorgeous pastel shades anyway, you can get them from Boots or the Models Own website.

They're such perfect colours for spring and summer and seeing as the sun seems to have finally appeared, I might have to pop down to Boots and pick up the other two polishes.

Have you tried any of the Models Own Scented Polishes? What did you think?
